A Brief Introduction to the School
Founded in September, 1950, our school was originally named Central South China Experimental Middle School for the Fast Training of Workers and Peasants established by Central South China Military and Administrative Commission. In 1985, its name was changed from “No.1 Middle School Affiliated to Central China Normal Institute” to “No.1 Middle School Affiliated to Central China Normal University”. In August 2005, the school changed its location from Dadongmen in Wuchang district to Wuhan Donghu’s New Technology development zone.
Throughout our development, we have won a great number of honors and awards, including a candidate key middle schools in Hubei province in 1962, “Hubei Model Middle School” with the highest score in 1997, “Model School at the Provincial Level” in November 2013, “A Name Card of the Sixty Years’ Development of Hubei Province” in 2009, “Most Satisfactory Middle School in Wuhan” in 2011, “Hubei Civilization Work Unit” in three consecutive years from 2004 to 2012, “National Model School on Education and Management Innovation” in 2012.
The school consists of a junior middle school and a high school. The high school covers an area of more than 390 acres with 95 classes, 5,000 students and 388 staff. Of the teachers, 15 are master teachers, 189 senior teachers, and 92 have masters or above degree.
Guided by the concept of “development education”, the core value of our school is to “cultivate students’ life-long learning awareness and ability” featuring the characteristic of “study with independence and creativity; develop for diversity and excellence”. Our development strategy is to perfect teaching quality through the implement of “one body and two wings.” “One body” refers to the “essence development, feature development and quality development.” “Two wings” refers to the international exchange activities, and projects aiming at helping areas which have a lack of educational resources. Our school has successfully conducted a number of exchange programs with many famous schools and educational institutions and organizations. The Bole branch in Xinjiang autonomous region and Chaoyang branch in Beijing have become well-known local schools.
At present, our school is striving to achieve the goal of becoming a world-class middle school. Abiding the motto of cultivating talents which is “virtuous and committed, informed and refined, as well as diligent in learning and quick in action” and upholding the spirit of “pursue excellence, and strive to be the best,” it shoulders the responsibility of cultivating top creative talents for China.
