Re: Recommendation to Foreign Experts Considering
No. 1 Middle School Attached to Central China Normal University

Hello:

I am an American citizen and have lived in China since March 2006. I just completed a one-semester teaching contract here at No. 1 Middle School.

If you find the campus and housing here amenable and enjoy (or are curious about) middle school students, then I recommend that you join this school. The some 6,000 students plus 500 teachers and administration personnel represent a unique and advanced learning environment here in China.

Two people are decisive if you are a foreign expert. Dominic and Peggy have been professional and friendly during my term. I have observed how they both strive to help foreign teachers excel in the classroom as well as walk side-by-side when dealing with the array of work and home issues we all face as visitors here in Wuhan.

Having taught at two universities prior to coming here, I must say how pleased I have been with the sense of collegiality shared by the Chinese teachers. I have been invited to many enjoyable meals here at our school located restaurant with teachers as well as Peggy and Dominic.

Please feel to contact me if you have further questions about No. 1 Middle School.

Sincerely,

D. R. Dimick

Ps. Do not let the distance from here to the center of the city dissuade you; a bike, scooter, or motorcycle is quite practical. Less noise, cleaner environment, and school-apartment convenience are considerable advantages which I came to enjoy.
